REVISIT!!!

This is one more magnet that is revisited. It is a picture frame, a Disneyland Anaheim original. I bought it in 2006 during our family trip in November. Again, one of my favourites.

I have taken more pictures from differenet angles. Yes, it is a rubber magnetto, in case you are wondering. Kalau ada rezeki, teringin nak bawak anak-anak ke situ lagi. Izwan & I have been there twice, but a third time won't hurt, right?

Anaheim At 4

Which fridge magnet can you get at Disneyland in Anaheim? The original merchandise, please?

This momma and her two kids bought this lovely one in Disneyland, Anaheim in 2006. See how tiny Hafiz was back then?

They bought this baby:

Beautiful, captivating rubber magneto. One of my favourites, obviously.

The BackLot

Wish we can be there again!
I got this 2D fridge magnet at the Universal Studios souvenir shop. I remember it was a bitexpensive but can't remember exactly how much it cost me.

I absolutely love it. Got it in 2006, and unfortunately, the colour has faded slightly. It is sitting in a shoe box now, I'm not sure why. But I do secretly hope it'll get back it colour. Tah hapa hapa ler aku ni....

London Landmarks

Izwan bought this magnet cum room thermometer on his way home from Ireland. And Mrs. Izwan was very very pleased.

There are several landmarks you can see from the magnet, including London Eye. When Izwan and I went to London for our honeymoon (second?) way back in 1998, the Eye was something in the distant future - but we did get to see the other places.

Salt Lake City

Nobody went to Salt Lake City and got me this magnet. This may well come from Utah but not authentically purchased in that state. Instead we bought it in Laughlin, Colorado. There was this stall selling all sorts of magnets from all over USA at one of the shopping malls facing the row of casino.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) they're not very pretty so we limit ourselves to buy just a few. Now, thinking back, it's a blatant lie. But heck, I'm keeping it!! At least I bought it from somewhere in the States! :-)

Disney Princesses

Here's a magnet from our trip to the USA in 2006. I bought the princesses magnet without my children knowing or else it'd become a toy and consequently become theirs. To date, it remains in the office, so it belongs to mommy! Truth be told, this is not a Disneyland original. I bought it along the Walk of Fame; the part of Walk of Fame closer to where the homeless are lying by the roadside, rather than the posh side of Walk of Fame. But heck, it is still Walk of Fame. Plus, I probably saved a buck or two (each magnet) by walking 50 meters further!
Here's some snaps from our adventure at Disneyland - one day is just not enough! Tasha was in posing mood, and you can tell she enjoyed Disneyland much better than Universal Studio!

So did Hafiz actually! I think we went on most of the kiddies ride, and the parade they had was a total WHOA. Plus the night show with fireworks! Awesome. Kumpul duit, insya Allah boleh pergi lagi!!

Lighthouse Family

This is a polystone magnet from Orlando. It was made for Beachcombers, Ft Myers, Florida. So it's genuine Floridan, not from China :-)

Anyways, do you know that Florida has about three dozen lighthouses, including several of the country's most famous light towers? The Florida Lighthouse Association (FLA) works for preservation of all the light stations. Nearly all the onshore stations are now supported by local lighthouse societies, and FLA has helped organize a Reef Lights Association to work for preservation of the offshore lights.

Efforts of FLA and local associations have led to restoration projects undertaken or planned at most of the onshore lighthouses. Few states have worked as hard on lighthouse preservation as Florida in recent years.
BTW, this is a pic of Ponce de Leon Inlet Light, taken in December 2004. It stands 168' tall. The tower gets its color from the Baltimore Red Brick that the tower is made of. The tower was decommissioned in 1970 due to the beacon on a steel tower at Smyrna Dunes. However, in 1983 a new high-rise condo unit was built that blocked the tower, so the Ponce Inlet Light was re-instated. Now you know :-)

Underground Map

And this is the map for the 'underground'!! Cool eh? My sis Gee went to UK & France eight years (or so) ago and bought me a shirt featuring this map. Souvenir t-shirt, of course. But it was so comfy and i kept wearing it; until I realise it was so worn out, it has become rather umm... see thru :-)

From Walk of Fame

Another fridge magnet I bought along Walk of Fame ... closer to the sthinky smelly part of the boulevard; rather than the posh side (Mann Chinese Theatre/Kodak Theater). But worth the walk... as the price is halved!

The magnet is a product by The Postcard Factory of Markham.
Where is Markham, you ask? It's in Ontario, Canada!!

Surf's Up

A friend of mine, Imran, went to Bali for holidays a few years back and got me three balinese surf boards that can decorate my fridge. Sadly, I lost one of the trio.

Bali is one of over 13,000 islands in the Indonesian archipelago and is located just over 2 kilometres from the eastern tip of the island of Java and west of the island of Lombok (once upon a long ago I had one maid, Som, who is from Lombok. She quit before completing her first 3 months but is now inCheras and still comes back to my mother in law's house during her off-days). Bali has varied landscape of hills and mountains, rugged coastlines and sandy beaches, lush rice terraces and barren volcanic hillsides provide a picturesque backdrop to the colourful and deeply spiritual culture of this 'Island of The Gods'.
Bali has been the scene of lethal terrorist bombings in 2002 and 2005, both waves of attacks targeting nightclubs and restaurants popular among foreign visitors. The Balinese who depend on tourism for their livelihood, deplore the bombings and the terrorists behind them for the terrible suffering they have caused on this island. But guess what? Statistically, Bali's roads are far more dangerous than even the deadliest bomb.

Hollywood Joy

This was purchased during our 2006 USA holidays. The word "Hollywood" is often used as a metonym for the cinema of the US. Today, much of the movie industry has dispersed into surrounding areas such as Burbank and the Los Angeles Westside but significant auxiliary industries, such as editing, effects, props, post-production and lighting companies, remain in Hollywood. The picture below is actually taken at Universal Studios. No, we didn't stop by the road side to have a picture taken with the authentic Hollywood sign. We were able to take pictures with that background near Kodak Theatre and adjoining buildings by the Walk of Fame.

Taxi!

Izwan bought this black London taxi during his trip to Ireland where there was a transit in London. I'm not sure which background is better for the blog; but since I've taken the effort to take pictures with various background colours, I might as well put up two pics of the same magnet!

Probably an exception from the general rule, this Arch magnet of the Prime Minister's Office was puchased in Subang Parade. The reason behind this purchase was sentimental; as I was involved in resolving some post contract issues with respect of the building.

Hey Cowboy

Izwan's brother in law went to Texas for training and gave us these 2 magnets as souvenirs. Cool!! The hat and the boot are actually sparkling (lke with gold dust or something) but you can't really see it in the pictures. As of 2000, six incorporated places in Texas had populations greater than 500,000, of which two are global cities: Houston and Dallas. Texas has a total of 25 metropolitan areas, with four having populations over 1 million and two over 5 million.
Texas has the most cities in the US, three, with populations exceeding 1 million: Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas; which are also among the 10 largest cities of the USA.

9/11

Izwan bought this magnet on his way to Orlando where there was a 'pit stop' at JFK Airport in New York. This magnet is to commemorate the brave men from the New York Fire Department vis-a-vis the 9/11 tragedy. Here is a pic of the JFK Airport:

Hongkie Skyline

Izwan went to Macau through Hong Kong in 2006. And of course, during the stop over, he managed to buy some HK magnets, although apparently in Macau, the shops do not seem to sell this as a souvenir.

This one shows the skyline of HL city centre and you can see the prominent landmarks: including the very prominent Bank of China Tower (right behind the alphabet "K") above. See smaller pic here.

We went to Hong Kong in March 2001, Tasha was only 6 months old. It was Hari Raya Haji. But Izwan was sent to work, and I grabbed the opportunity to tag along. We stayed at the posh Conrad International.
